Hello again, friends.
Is it spring? Summer? Still winter? Who knows! Not Minnesotans. Despite the wild ride that is our weather, I hope your week is off to a good start.
This edition is packed, so let’s dive into the updates.
Introducing a New Feature
Helping Hands Hub is launching this week, a new section dedicated to volunteer opportunities in your community. A hearty thank you to Laura, one of our readers, for this great idea.
Discount Card Coming Soon!
The results are in: after last week’s poll, 92.5% of you said you’re interested in a discount card featuring local businesses! I've started reaching out to restaurants to partner with; if you own a restaurant and are interested in collaborating, let's connect.
Switching Event Date Coverage
Last-minute notice kept a friend from attending a fun event last Tuesday. To avoid this, I'll start covering events Wednesday-Tuesday. This week’s edition still includes this Tuesday’s events. Russ, if you haven’t unsubscribed, I’m sorry…
There are a few other community ideas in the works, like our own in-person gatherings. Stay tuned for updates over the next few weeks! Think of this newsletter as a four-week-old puppy—still really new and a little clumsy. So thanks for sticking with me and being so supportive!
Alright, let’s move on before things get too sappy, shall we?
This week’s edition is brought to you by…

Join us for Mission Animal Hospital's community event to raise funds for accessible veterinary care and celebrate the human-pet bond!
Early Bird Registration ends on April 19, 2025.
TRAIL GUIDE
Considering it snowed Saturday, and it’s supposed to snow again today, we’ll forgo our usual list of trails to explore. Apologies in advance if you’re a Tough Mudder-type and were looking forward to some solid action this week.
In place of the trails, here’s a short, animated video of Wendell Berry reading one of his best-known poems. I think it's timely and relevant, and I hope you enjoy it.
TECH-WISE
Last week we shared about a new trend called analog wellness. In case you missed it, here’s the article we referenced.
Here’s an evening ritual that has helped me spend less time on my screens, read more books, and go to sleep at a reasonable time: charging my phone outside of my bedroom. To ensure I still wake up, I use a ridiculously loud alarm app that makes me solve math problems, but if you prefer something less bizarre, a radio alarm clock (like in the film Groundhog Day) costs around $10 nowadays.
ADOPT PETS

Truman is clearly saying, “Take me to that record shop that’s always handing out treats.”
Meet Truman, a fun-loving hound mix who's great with children and other pets. Already house-trained, this friendly boy brings joy and energy while being easy to manage.
Goose is an affectionate kitten who loves tummy rubs and balances playfulness with a quiet demeanor.
His brother Gander, a beautiful tabby from the same rescue, has blossomed from independent to cuddle-seeking and enjoys chasing games with Goose. They would love to be adopted as a pair, but each would also thrive in a kind, welcoming home where they can be cared for.
